Soft contact lens is a thin, flexible lens made of water-containing plastics called hydrogels or silicone hydrogels. Used to correct vision problems like myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), astigmatism, and presbyopia. Available in different types: daily disposable, bi-weekly, monthly, extended wear, and colored lenses. Soft toric contact lens is  designed to correct astigmatism (a refractive error caused by an irregularly shaped cornea or lens). Unlike regular spherical soft lenses that only correct myopia or hyperopia, toric lenses have different powers in different meridians to correct uneven curvature and orientation markings to help the lens stay in the right position. 

RGP lenses are small, firm contact lenses made of oxygen-permeable materials and are  useful for patients with high astigmatism, keratoconus, or irregular corneas. They provide better optical quality than soft lenses but may take a longer adaptation period. Rose K contact lens is a specially designed rigid gas permeable (RGP) lens mainly used for patients with keratoconus and irregular corneas. It has a multicurve design that matches the cone-shaped cornea and provides sharper vision by correcting corneal irregularities. Available in different types (Rose K2, Rose K2 IC, Rose K2 XL) to suit different severities.

Scleral contact lens is a large-sized rigid gas permeable (RGP) lens that rests entirely on the sclera  and creates a fluid-filled space over the cornea. It vaults over the cornea without touching it. The fluid reservoir helps mask corneal irregularities and keeps the eye constantly moist. It provides excellent comfort and stable vision, especially in keratoconus, dry eye, corneal scars, and post-surgery eyes. The irritation is less  since it doesn’t rub on the cornea.

We use  Orthoptek™ in addition to the traditional patching  to treat lazy eye ( amblyopia), enhance binocular vision, stereopsis and strengthen weaker eyes.

In Paralytic Squints, we use  diagnostic tools like Hess and Diplopia charting to assess and monitor eye alignment issues. Customized prism lenses are used to alleviate symptoms of double vision and eye strain caused by paralytic squints.

Diabetic Retinopathy Clinic

1. Fundus Photography: Captures high-resolution images of the retina, allowing for detailed examination and monitoring of diabetic retinopathy.We offer retinal screening (without dilatation) using retinal laser photographs.

2. Widefield Photography: We use 163° Ultrawide Field Colour Images which provides a broader view of the retina, enabling detection of peripheral retinal lesions and ischemia. We also take these photographs.

3. Fluorescein Angiography: Helps identify areas of leakage, ischemia, and neovascularization, guiding treatment decisions.

4. Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT): Offers cross-sectional imaging of the retina, detecting structural changes and guiding treatment. Our clinic uses high definition wide area OCT to detect and monitor pathology over a wider area.

It requires hospital admission, may require silicone oil insertion and post operative positioning. We use small guage(25G) MIVS systems in order to obtain faster healing and recovery.
